Né à Anvers en 1967, d’origine du nord de l’Espagne, Angel Barrero se forme très tôt à la sculpture auprès de son père. Cette transmission artisanale fonde un lien profond entre savoir-faire traditionnel et création contemporaine.

Maître contemporain du stuc-marbre et de la scagliola, il consacre depuis de nombreuses années ses recherches à ces techniques historiques, qu’il enrichit au fil de collaborations et de formations auprès de maîtres reconnus en France, en Italie, en Espagne et en Belgique.

Aujourd’hui, il réinterprète ces procédés anciens dans une écriture singulière, à la croisée de la sculpture, du design d’objet unique et de la peinture abstraite expressionniste. Son travail a été présenté dans plusieurs galeries, notamment à New York. Il dirige également sa propre galerie à Bruxelles, entièrement dédiée à ses créations en stuc marbré.

Born in Antwerp in 1967 to a family of northern Spanish origin, Angel Barrero was introduced to sculpture at an early age through the transmission of his father’s craft. This formative apprenticeship instilled in him a profound respect for traditional savoir-faire, laying the foundation for a practice that bridges heritage and contemporary creation.

Recognised as a contemporary master of marble stucco and scagliola, he has devoted decades to the rigorous study and revival of these historic techniques. His expertise has been refined through collaborations and advanced training with distinguished masters in France, Italy, Spain, and Belgium, ensuring both technical excellence and artistic integrity.

Today, he reinterprets these ancestral processes through a singular and highly refined visual language. Positioned at the intersection of sculpture, collectible design, and abstract expression. His creations have been presented in select galleries, notably in New York. He also leads his own gallery in Brussels, a space entirely dedicated to the presentation of his marble stucco works.

Angel Barrero, geboren in Antwerpen in 1967 en van Noord-Spaanse afkomst, begon al op jonge leeftijd met zijn artistieke opleiding en studeerde beeldhouwen bij zijn vader. Deze ambachtelijke overdracht smeedde een diepe band tussen traditioneel vakmanschap en hedendaagse creatie.

Als hedendaagse meester in stucwerk en scagliola heeft hij vele jaren gewijd aan het verkennen van deze historische technieken en ze verrijkt door samenwerkingen en opleidingen bij gerenommeerde meesters in Frankrijk, Italië, Spanje en België.

Tegenwoordig herinterpreteert hij deze eeuwenoude processen in een unieke stijl, op het kruispunt van beeldhouwkunst, uniek objectontwerp en abstract expressionistische schilderkunst.
